Mystery Woman from Beara

Jean Clemons of the Beara rootsweb reading list provided this image of someone who once lived in Beara.  Here's the caption that goes with it:

This picture was taken in the 1920's.  People have said I reached the age of 110 when I died.  I don't know my name, when or where I was born, or when and where I died.  I do believe I came from Beara.  I could be a Regan, Sullivan, McCarthy, or an O'Leary or I married into any one of those families.

Can anyone tell me who I am?

Please reply here if you have any ideas of who this person may have been.

  1. Just updating this post, as my cousin, Jean, has sadly passed away last Sunday, June 14, may she R.I.P. So, taking up where Jean left off, we are 100% sure this lady in the picture, was either married to Cornelius Regan or Jeremiah Sullivan of the Adrigole area.

Her first name was Mary, and we believe her maiden name was Murphy. We are fairly certain that her parents were John Murphy and Johanna Murphy of Maheesh, Co. Cork, Ireland.

The above information was from Mr. Riobard O'Dwyer in his book titled "Who Were My Ancestors", on page 112. Many thanks to Mr. O'Dwyer for his work on the people in Co. Cork. He has certainly helped Jean and I to get a lot of information of our ancestors there.

    Thank you!

If anyone knows anymore on this lady or her family, please do email me your information to nancyreganhess@gmail.com

    Thank you.
